The Philippine Statistics Authority will conduct the quarterly Labor Force Survey (LFS) this October 2021 with the Survey on Overseas Filipinos (SOF) and awareness to the Philippine Competition Commission (PCC) and Philippine Competition Act (PCA) . A total of thirty one (31) sample barangays with three hundred eighty eight (388) sample households will be interviewed in the province by Statistical Researchers from 8 to 30 October 2021.
The LFS is a nationwide quarterly survey of households that gathers data on the demographic and socio-economic characteristics of the population. It aims to provide a quantitative framework for the preparation of plans and formulation of policies affecting the labor market. The On the other hand, SOF is designed to gather data on the number and socio-economic characteristics of overseas Filipinos and their remittances. PCC involves the gathering of data in order to gauge the household awareness of the PCC and the PCA and in so doing generate insights on how best to undertake advocacy.
Results of July 2021 LFS shows that the country reported an employment rate of 92.1% which is the lower compared reported employment rate of 92.3% in April 2021. Unemployment rate reported a 7.9% which is higher compared to the reported 7.0% a quarter ago while underemployment rate reported an increase of 10.1% or from 20.3% in April 2021 to 30.4% in July 2021. The labor force participation rate (LFPR) in July 2021 was placed at 59.1 percent, which is lower than the 60.1& LFPR reported in April 2021.
The authority and mandate of the PSA to conduct the survey emanates from R.A. 10625. Like any other surveys undertaken by the PSA, the data to be gathered in the said survey are for statistical purposes only and will be published in summary forms. Information obtained from the respondents are held STRICTLY CONFIDENTIAL and are not used for investigation, taxation and law enforcement purposes and are not be divulged to any person except authorized PSA personnel acting in the performance of their duties.
