The Philippine Statistics Authority will conduct the monthly Labor Force Survey (LFS) this September 2021. A total of six (6) sample barangays with ninety seven (97) sample households will be interviewed in the province by Statistical Researchers from 8 to 30 September 2021.
The monthly LFS is a nationwide quarterly survey of households that gathers data on the demographic and socio-economic characteristics of the population. It will be an abridged version of the quarterly or the regular LFS and will utilize the core questions of the regular LFS with additional questions related to the Covid-19 pandemic to generate the core labor and employment indicators including relevant indicators for the Covid-19 recovery program. The conduct of monthly LFS aims to provide high frequency statistical information on the Philippine labor market to better understand the current situation of employment and the economy of the Philippines during the unprecedented Covid-19 pandemic.
Results of June 2021 LFS shows that the country reported an employment rate of 92.3% which is the same compared reported employment rate in May 2021. Unemployment rate reported a 7.7% which is also the same reported a month ago while underemployment rate reported an increase of 1.9% or from 12.3% in May 2021 to 14.2% in June 2021. The labor force participation rate (LFPR) in June 2021 was placed at 65.0 percent, equivalent to 48.84 million Filipinos 15 years old and over who were either employed or unemployed. This is higher than the LFPR reported in the months of January (60.5%), February (63.5%), April (63.2%) and May (64.6%) of the same year.
