The Philippine Statistics Authority will conduct the January 2020 Labor Force Survey (LFS) The LFS is a nationwide quarterly survey of households that gathers data on the demographic and socio-economic characteristics of the population. The LFS objective is to provide a quantitative framework in the preparation of plans and formulation of policies affecting the labor market. Moreover, it also provides statistics on levels and trends of employment, unemployment and underemployment in the country and regions.
Results of 2019 LFS shows that Bicol Region recorded an employment rate of 94.8% which is lower compared to the recorded employment rate of 95.1% in 2018. Unemployment rate had an increase of 0.3%, from 4.9% in 2018 to 5.2% in 2019 while underemployment rate registered a decrease of 2.4%, from 29.6% in 2018 to 27.3% in 2019.
In the province, twenty nine (29) sample barangays with three hundred eighty nine (389) sample households will be interviewed. Actual interview of sample households is from 9-31 January 2020.
The authority and mandate of the PSA to conduct the survey emanates from R.A. 10625. Like any other surveys undertaken by the PSA, the data to be gathered in the said survey are for statistical purposes only and will be published in summary forms. Information obtained from the respondents are held STRICTLY CONFIDENTIAL and are not used for investigation, taxation and law enforcement purposes and are not be divulged to any person except authorized PSA personnel acting in the performance of their duties.
