The Philippine Statistics Authority will conduct the October 2017 Labor Force Survey and Survey on Overseas Filipinos. The Labor Force Survey is a nationwide quarterly survey of households to gather data on the demographic and socio-economic characteristics of the population. The LFS aims to provide a quantitative framework for the preparation of plans and formulation of policies affecting the labor market.
The 2017 Survey on Overseas Filipinos (SOF) is nationwide survey that seeks to gather information on Filipino citizens who left for abroad during the last five years. Specifically, SOF aims to obtain national estimates on the number of overseas Filipinos including overseas workers and their socio-economic characteristics and to provide estimates on the amount of cash and in kind transfer received by the families and mode of remittances. For the purpose of the survey, only those family members who traveled outside of the Philippines within the period October 2011 to September 2016 for any reasons are included.
In the province, twenty nine (29) sample barangays with three hundred eighty four (384) sample households will be interviewed for LFS and SOF. Actual interview of sample households is from October 9-31, 2017.
The authority and mandate of the PSA to conduct the survey emanates from R.A. 10625. Like any other surveys undertaken by the PSA, the data that will be gathered in the said survey are for statistical purposes only and will be published in summary forms. Information obtained from the respondents shall be held STRICTLY CONFIDENTIAL and shall not be used for investigation, taxation and law enforcement purposes and shall not be divulged to any person except authorized PSA personnel acting in the performance of their duties.
