PSA RSSO V runs for Earth

Ten regular employees together with two Job Order personnel from PSA RSSO V joined in the Fun Run for Earth on June 5, 2018 in celebration of World Environment Day and Philippine Environment Month 2018 with the theme “Beat Plastic Pollution through Management and Engagement.”


Themed: Running for Our Lives, Running for the Earth, the fun run was spearheaded by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources Environment Management Bureau V. It was attended by 375 individuals from different organizations including government and non-government agencies.


At 5:30 pm, the registration for the participants started. The program formally began with a short invocation and welcome remarks from DENR-EMB V Director Eva S. Ocfemia Ph.D., CESO IV.  With overflowing adrenaline rush from the sound of the signal, the fun run commenced in front of the Bureau of Fire Protection. The participants ran, walked and sprinted until the finish line at the Legazpi City Boulevard, Puro, Legazpi City. A raffle draw was conducted by the organizers after the fun run. Ms. Rachel L. de Marquez from PSSA RSSO V, was one of the lucky winners in the said raffle draw.


As the head of the spearheading agency, Director Ocfemia, highlighted in her opening remarks that reducing plastic wastes can help in minimizing the plastic pollution that contributes to the environment’s continuous destruction. She also emphasized that disposable and single-use sachets contribute greatly to the pollution created from plastic products while reducing the use of these materials can help in protecting the Earth.
