The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Catanduanes proudly joined the 9th Abaca Festival celebration on 26 May 2025, participating in the Thanksgiving Mass and the lively Parada Abaca. The event highlights the pride and identity of Catanduanes as the "Abaca Capital of the Philippines," officially declared under Republic Act No. 11700 in April 2022.

In full support of local development, PSA Catanduanes also took part in the “Trabaho para sa Catandunganon” Jobs Fair, delivering frontline services such as National ID services and civil registry document issuance to the public, promoting convenient access to government services.

Catanduanes continues to lead the abaca industry nationwide. Based on 2024 data, the province produced 20,371.43 metric tons of abaca fiber, contributing 31.5% to the country’s total output and 91% of the Bicol Region’s production. Although there was a 7.5% decline compared to the previous year, Catanduanes remains the top abaca-producing province. It also holds the largest abaca-planted area at 24,734.69 hectares—equivalent to 19% of the national total.

The top five abaca-producing provinces in the Philippines for 2024 were Catanduanes (20,371.43 mt), Northern Samar (6,930.00 mt), Bukidnon (4,189.35 mt), Davao Oriental (4,154.76 mt), and Surigao del Sur (3,760.42 mt). Notably, Bukidnon and Surigao del Sur showed growth rates of 4.7% and 5.2%, respectively.

PSA Catanduanes reaffirms its commitment to delivering accurate, timely, and relevant statistics to guide policies and programs that empower industries and uplift the lives of Catandunganons.
