The population of Del Gallego as of 2020 is 26,403

Del Gallego's population as of May 1, 2020 was 26,403, based on the 2020 Census of Population and Housing (2020CPH).  Del Gallego is the seventh least populous municipality of Camarines Sur. The 2020 population is higher by 1,066 compared with the population of 25,397 in 2015, and higher by 3,339 compared with the population of 23,067 in 2010.

From 2015 to 2020, the population of Del Gallego increased by 0.59 percent annually, on average. By comparison, the rate at which the municipality's population grew during the period 2010 to 2015 was higher at 1.63 percent.

The household population of Del Gallego reached 26,356 persons in 2020.  This is higher by 1,006 persons than the household population reported in 2015, and 3,295 persons more than the 23,061 household population posted in 2010.

In 2020, the household population comprised 99.82 percent of the total population in Del Gallego, while the remaining 0.18 percent comprised the institutional population or those residing in collective or institutional living quarters such as hotels, hospitals, orphanages and home for the aged, corrective and penal institutions, and military camps.

Sex Ratio is at 104 males per 100 females

Males accounted for 51.0 percent of the total household population in 2020 while females comprised 49.0 percent. These figures resulted in a sex ratio of 104 males for every 100 females.

Median age is 21.6 years

In 2020, the median age of the population of the municipality was 21.6 years, which means that half of the population was younger than 21.6 years.

Moreover, seven in every twenty persons (35.6 percent) were under 15 years old. Ten to fourteen comprised the largest age group, followed by those in the five to nine and zero to four age groups. Males (51.1 percent) outnumbered females (48.9 percent) in the zero to 49 age group. On the other hand, there were more females (51.6 percent) than males (48.4 percent) in the older age groups (50 years old and over).

Dependency ratio

The young dependents (0 to 14 years) comprised 35.6 percent of the household population in 2020. Meanwhile, the old dependents (65 years and over) posted a share of 5.1 percent.

The overall dependency ratio was 69, which indicates that for every 100 working-age population (15 to 64 years), there were about 69 dependents (60 young dependents and 9 old dependents).

Senior citizens comprise 8.0 percent of the household population

Senior citizens are those aged 60 years old and over. In 2020, senior citizens made up 8.0 percent of the 26,356 household population of Del Gallego.  Among the senior citizens, females (55.2 percent) outnumbered the males (44.8 percent).

Twenty three elderly for every one hundred children below 15 years

The ageing index or the proportion of persons aged 60 years and over per 100 persons under the age of 15 years was computed at 22.6 percent in 2020. This means that there were twenty three elderly aged 60 years and over for every one hundred children under 15 years old.
