The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) recently conducted a 3-day Regional Training Workshop on Data Processing for the PSA – LGU Data Sharing for Business Register Project (PLDS-BRP) held at La Roca Veranda Suite and Restaurant, Legazpi City, Albay from July 30 to August 1, 2024. The training workshop was facilitated by the PSA Regional Office and was attended by participants from Provincial Statistical Offices of Bicol Region.

The training workshop began by introducing the PSA staff from Central Office who served as trainers of the event. Regional Statistical Services Office V - Regional Director, Cynthia L. Perdiz, gave her opening message and welcomed the participants.

The PLDS-BRP involves gathering business registers from the LGUs in the province to further improve the content and coverage of the List of Establishment (LE) and enhance the Statistical Business Register (SBR). The SBR is essential to produce a reliable sampling frame that is used by PSA for economic surveys that generate relevant economic indicators. It also aims to strengthen the partnership of the PSA with city/municipal LGUs.

During the training, the PSO Camarines Sur participants demonstrated their proficiency by aligning their LGU business register with the PLDS’s standard and template. Notably, they excelled in the post-training assessment, achieving perfect and near-perfect scores.

The data generated through this project is expected to be turned over to the LGUs by 2nd semester of 2025, to further enhance their capability to utilize accurate and comprehensive economic data.
