The Province of Camarines Sur held its first Quarterly Provincial Statistics Committee (PSC) Meeting on August 20, 2024, at Sangguniang Bayan Hall, Provincial Capitol Complex, Cadlan, Pili, Camarines Sur. The meeting was hosted by the Provincial Planning and Development Office headed by PEO IV Marita G. Hermoso who serves as the chairperson of the committee. It was attended by the provincial heads and/or representatives from: Department of Science and Technology; Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office; Ateneo de Naga University; Provincial Engineering Office; Department of Trade and Industry; Provincial Budget Office; Provincial Tourism Office; Camarines Sur Provincial Police Office; Department of Agrarian Reform; Office of the Provincial Agriculturist; Department of Interior and Local Government; Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office; and Philippine Statistics Authority, who serves as the vice-chairperson and secretariat of the committee.
The PSC was created by virtue of Executive Order No. 33 Series of 2022, signed by Governor Vincenzo Renato Luigi R. Villafuerte. The objective of PSC is to establish and enforce standard methodologies for data collection, processing, and analysis, ensuring that the statistics produced are reliable, consistent, and comparable. It also aims to facilitate the sharing of statistical data among different government agencies, fostering a culture of transparency and informed decision-making.
The meeting was concluded with the PSC members adopting four resolutions in support of different statistical surveys of the PSA. They also agreed to hold succeeding meetings on the first Friday of the first month of every quarter.
