08 February 2024 – LEGAZPI CITY. On January 6, 2023, fourteen Local Civil Registry (LCRO) personnel from all over the Bicol Region went up against each other during the Regional Elimination Round for the 4th Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) Quiz Bee for LCRO Personnel. The competition, spearheaded by the Philippine Statistics Authority Regional Statistical Services Office V (PSA-RSSO V), put to the test the contestants’ knowledge of all matters related to Civil Registration.

Region V’s elimination match for the 4th CRVS Quiz Bee was composed of three levels: Easy, Average, and Difficult. Thirteen out of fourteen contestants successfully hurdled through the first two and made it to the final battle in the Difficult Round. Finally, three contestants were hailed winners at the end of the competition. Third place was bagged by Municipal Civil Registrar Aster DQ. Crispino of the LCRO of Pandan, Catanduanes, while the second place was secured by Municipal Civil Registrar Gisela Platon of the LCRO of Minalabac, Camarines Sur. Registration Officer I Joe Dennis D. Opeda of the LCRO of San Vicente, Camarines Norte clinched the top spot and the privilege of representing the Bicol Region in the 4th National CRVS Quiz Bee on 28 February 2024 in Quezon City.

The annual quiz bee, launched in 2021, was aimed to boost the engagement of PSA’s regional and provincial offices, as well as the LCROs, in the celebration of the Civil Registration Month despite the COVID-19 pandemic. Over the years, the contest has gone from fully virtual to hybrid, then to completely face-to-face. Nevertheless, the CRVS Quiz Bee has become a staple in the roster of activities—one that the PSA community anticipates and prepares for.
