Two marriages per thousand population

In 2024, actual number of marriages reported in Catanduanes reached 705 which is equivalent to a crude marriage rate of 2.44 or two marriages per thousand population. 

Municipality of Bato had the highest crude marriage rate with 4.05 or 4 marriages per thousand population while municipality of Bagamanoc had the lowest crude marriage rate with 1.26 or one marriage per thousand population.

Municipality of Virac with the highest marriages recorded

Municipality of Virac had the highest number of marriages, with 229 or 32.5 percent of the total marriages in Catanduanes. Bato ranked second with 96 marriages, representing 13.6 percent of the total. On the other hand, municipality of Panganiban had the fewest marriages, with 13 marriages, or 1.8 percent of the total marriages in the province for the same year.

Majority of males and females married between ages 26-30 years old

Of the total marriages in the province in 2024, 265 or 37.6 percent were males between ages 26 to 30 years old and 301 or 42.7 percent women were of the same age group. For aged between 31-35, males accounted to 28.2 percent (199) and females accounted to 24.4 percent (172). It can be noted that there were more females married at aged 18-35 years old than males in the same age group.

Most marriages occurred in May 

In 2024, May recorded the highest number of marriages with 113 or 16.0 percent of the total marriages in the province. The month of June ranked second with 104 total marriages or 14.8 percent share, followed by the month of July with 93 or 13.2 percent share. On the other hand, the month of November had the least number of marriages with only 24 or 3.4 percent.

Highest percentage of marriages solemnized in Roman Catholic ceremony

In 2024, 383 or 54.3 percent of marriages were solemnized in Roman Catholic. 287 or 40.7 percent in Civil and 35 or 5.0 percent in other religious rites.

Church, the most common place of wedding ceremonies

Most married couples preferred church as the place of their wedding ceremonies in 2024. 401 or 56.9 percent of couples married in church. Second in rank was the Office of the Mayor with 246 or 34.9 percent couples. On the other hand, only one couple married in Office of the Judge.
