The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) will conduct the January 2025 Labor Force Survey (LFS) on 09-30 January 2025. In the province of Catanduanes, six (6) Statistical Researchers were hired and trained to enumerate three hundred eighty-seven (387) sample households from twenty-six (26) sample barangays in the province.
Labor Force Survey (LFS) is a nationwide survey of households to gather data on the demographic and socio-economic characteristics of the population. This is a monthly household survey that measures the country's current labor market and is used, among other things, to calculate national and provincial employment and unemployment rates.
The result of the November 2024 LFS shows that the country reported an employment rate of 96.75% which is higher compared to the reported employment rate of 96.08% in October 2024. The unemployment rate was reported at 3.25% which is lower compared to the reported a month ago of 3.92%. Likewise, the underemployment rate reported also a decrease of 1.82% or from 12.63% in October 2024 to 10.81% in November 2024. The labor force participation rate (LFPR) in November 2024 was placed at 64.58 percent, equivalent to 51.20 million Filipinos 15 years old and over who were either employed or unemployed.
The success of the survey depends highly on the quality of data that will be collected. PSA assures its respondents that all information collected from them shall be kept strictly confidential. Section 26 of Republic Act 10625 stipulates that individual data furnished by the respondent to statistical inquiries, surveys, and censuses of the PSA shall be considered privileged information and such shall be inadmissible as evidence in any proceeding. The PSA may release data gathered from surveys and censuses only in the form of summaries or statistical tables, in which no reference to an individual, corporation, association, partnership, institution, or business enterprise shall appear.
