The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) - Catanduanes, in collaboration with Local Civil Registry Offices (LCROs), media partners, and other stakeholders in Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS), proudly celebrates the 35th Civil Registration Month this February 2025. Pursuant to Proclamation No. 682, signed by former President Corazon C. Aquino on 28 January 1991, declaring February as Civil Registration Month, this annual celebration highlights the crucial role of civil registration in legal identity, social protection, and good governance. This years theme: "Building a Resilient, Agile, and Future-fit Civil Registration and Vital Statistics System," emphasizes the need for a modern, adaptable, and robust system that ensures the accurate and timely registration of vital events such as birth, marriage, and death.
The festivities will kick off on 3 February 2025, with the MCR Quiz, where 18 Municipal Civil Registrars (MCRs) will compete, and the winner will advance to the regional competition in Legazpi City. The official opening on 4 February 2025 will feature a motorcade starting at 7:00 AM from the PSA Building, a Holy Mass in Barangay Casoocan, and various community outreach programs, including information dissemination, a feeding program, and a gift-giving session. On 5 February, a lecture on the Philippine Civil Registry Information System (PhilCris) and recent administrative orders will be held in Palnab Del Sur.
To enhance public engagement, PSA Catanduanes will host a live podcast every Thursday at 4:00 PM on its official Facebook page, featuring discussions on birth, marriage, and death registration, as well as updating and correction of civil registry records. Additionally, daily trivia on civil registration will be posted on Facebook to raise awareness and encourage participation. Local Civil Registry Offices across the province will also spearhead initiatives such as mobile registration services and "Kasalang Bayan", ensuring that civil registration remains accessible, especially to underserved communities. Media partners and other stakeholders will play a crucial role in disseminating information and supporting outreach efforts.
PSA Catanduanes invites the public to join in these activities and take advantage of the services offered. For more information, visit the PSA Catanduanes office or follow our official Facebook page for updates.
