The Philippines Statistics Authority Regional Statistical Services Office V (RSSO V) conducted a 3-day Technical Session on Mineral Asset Accounts and Field Visit in Masbate on August 14 – 16 2023. The technical session was a hybrid set-up where online participants attended via Google Meet.

The Technical Session was held at Gagay's Hotel and Resort in Sitio Himomoro, Tugbo, Masbate City, which was attended by participants from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB), along with Masbate Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO), The event was facilitated by the staff from Environment and Natural Resources Accounts Division of the  Macroeconomics Accounts Service of PSA headed by Chief Statistical Specialist Virginia M. Bathan

The refresher training on System of Environmental-Economic Accounting (SEEA) provided a comprehensive approach to measuring the interactions between the economy and the environment. It aimed to enable the regions to analyze and monitor the impacts of economic activity on the environment to help policymakers in developing effective policies for sustainable development.

During their visit, the participants paid courtesy calls to Mayor Arturo Virtucio of Aroroy, Masbate, and Mayor Socrates M. Tuason of the City of Masbate while fostering valuable connections and discussions on environmental conservation and community engagement.

The participants had the opportunity to explore various sites during their visit, including the Filminera Resource Company, Pawa Mangrove Park, and Banadero Watershed in Masbate. Throughout these visits, participants gained valuable insights into sustainable resource management practices, conservation efforts, and the vital role these ecosystems play in supporting biodiversity and local communities.
