Household Population

Forty-nine percent of the household population in Camarines Sur are women

In 2020, Camarines Sur recorded more than one million women at 49.3 percent of the total household population while men were tallied at 50.7 percent of the population. There were more males in ages 0 to 54 while there were more females in older population ages 55 and above. Furthermore, the largest sex distribution gap is at ages 80 years old and above with 68.9 percent female composition.

Camarines Sur exhibits a relatively young household population, as indicated by the larger proportions within the younger age groups. The age group 0 to 4 years represents the highest total population across all age categories. Among males, the 5 to 9 age group comprises the largest share of the total household population at 6.0 percent, while for females, the 0 to 4 age group holds the highest proportion at 5.5 percent. Additionally, the data reveals a greater representation of females in the upper tiers of the population pyramid, contributing to a disproportionately larger female elderly population.

Although Camarines Sur's population is primarily composed of young dependents, the population pyramid reveals a narrowing base compared to 2015 may be attributed to a decline in birth rates and fertility levels. If this pattern persists, the demographic shift could potentially lead to an increase in productivity due to a larger workforce and fewer dependents.
