The average farmgate price of cereals increased during the second quarter of 2023. The average farmgate price of palay, other variety fresh, increased from P14.85/kg to P17.36/kg this quarter. Similarly, the average farmgate price of corn,matured yellow increased from P18.74/kg to P19.66/kg. Meanwhile, the average farmgate price of greencorn, white, slightly decreased from P18.28/kg in the second quarter of 2022 to P25.11/kg in the same quarter of 2023.

The average farmgate price of gabi tagalog and cassava fresh tubers for food was more expensive this quarter compared with the same quarter of 2022. The average farmgate price of gabi tagalog and sweet potato went up from the average farmgate price of P14.72/kg to P17.10/kg and P20.85/kg to P29.76 /kg, respectively. The average farmgate price of cassava fresh tubers for food increased from P8.76/kg to P9.64/kg. In contrast, the price of cassava fresh tubers for industrial use decreased from P7.19/kg to P6.34/kg this quarter. 

Higher price in the average farmgate price of beans and legumes was posted during the quarter. The price of peanut with shell, fresh was registered at P61.17/kg, higher by P14.39/kg compared with the same quarter in 2022. Likewise, the average farmgate price of stringbeans (long) was posted at P27.84/kg, higher by P0.96/kg compared with the same period in 2022.

Vegetables posted higher price during the second quarter of 2023. The average farmgate price of eggplant long purple increased to P27.77/kg, okra to P42.24/kg, squash to P18.61/kg, camote tops to P19.15/kg, and pechay native to P39.13/kg. Meanwhile, the average farmgate price of ampalaya decreased to P35.42/kg and tomato to P14.37/kg.

Higher farmgate price of fruits was observed this period. The average farmgate price of banana, green latundan increased to P17.57/kg from P15.00/kg. Likewise, the farmgate price of banana, green saba increased to P12.31/kg from P10.35/kg. Similarly, the average farmgate price of calamansi increased from P55.64/kg to P76.71/kg this quarter. Meanwhile, price increase was also noted for papaya hawaiian with average farmgate price of P16.50/kg and pineapple Hawaiian with average farmgate price of P14.44/kg. Similarly, the average farmgate price of pineapple formosa increased from P9.39/kg to P10.65/kg.

Lower price of most industrial crops was noted during the quarter. The average farmgate price of abaca went down from P73.41/kg to P67.89/kg. The average farmgate price of coconut young green also went down from P6.74/kg to P5.79/kg. Meanwhile, the price of coconut matured decreased from P10.52/kg to P5.31/kg. Similarly, the average farmgate price of pilinut withhull decreased from P23.81/kg to P20.47/kg during this period.
