The average farmgate price of cereals increased during the third quarter of 2023. The average farmgate price of palay, other variety fresh, increased from P15.10/kg to P18.81/kg this quarter. Similarly, the average farmgate price of corn,matured yellow increased from P18.74/kg to P18.78/kg. Meanwhile, the average farmgate price of greencorn, white, slightly decreased from P27.64/kg in the third quarter of 2022 to P27.29/kg in the same quarter of 2023.

The average farmgate price of gabi tagalog, sweet potato, and cassava fresh tubers for food was more expensive this quarter compared with the same quarter of 2022. The average farmgate price of gabi tagalog and sweet potato went up from the average farmgate price of P15.07/kg to P15.54/kg and P18.07/kg to P28.75/kg, respectively. The average farmgate price of cassava fresh tubers for food also increased from P7.84/kg to P10.08/kg. In contrast, the price of cassava fresh tubers for industrial use decreased from P5.75/kg to P5.72/kg this quarter.

Higher price in the average farmgate price of beans and legumes was posted during the quarter. The price of peanut with shell, fresh was registered at P58.34/kg, higher by P10.57/kg compared with the same quarter in 2022. Likewise, the average farmgate price of stringbeans (long) was posted at P33.79/kg, higher by P8.79/kg compared with the same period in 2022.

Most vegetables posted lower price during the third quarter of 2023. The average farmgate price of eggplant long purple decreased to P23.37/kg, okra to P23.67/kg, squash to P15.46/kg, and camote tops to P20.04/kg. Meanwhile, the average farmgate price of ampalaya increased to P45.68/kg, tomatoto P43.32/kg, and pechay native to P49.38/kg.

Higher farmgate price of fruits was observed this period. The average farmgate price of banana, green latundan increased to P15.99/kg from P11.44/kg. Likewise, the farmgate price of banana, green saba increased to P11.15/kg from P7.28/kg. Similarly, the average farmgate price of papaya hawaiian increased from P15.34/kg to P18.09/kg this quarter. Meanwhile, price increase was also noted for pineapple hawaiian with average farmgate price of P21.71/kg and pineapple formosa with average farmgate price of P12.25/kg. In contrast, the average farmgate price of calamansi decreased from P39.10/kg to P31.24/kg.

Higher price of most industrial crops was noted during the quarter. The average farmgate price of abaca went up from P60.86/kg to P72.47/kg. The average farmgate price of coconut young green also went up from P5.95/kg to P6.65/kg. Meanwhile, the price of pilinut with hull increased from P20.60/kg to P25.33/kg. In contrast, the average farmgate price of coconut matured decreased from P7.20/kg to P5.29/kg during this period.
