The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) will conduct the March 2025 Labor Force Survey (LFS) with the Jobs and Skills Survey (JSS) on 08-28 March 2025. In the province of Catanduanes, three (3) Statistical Researchers were hired and trained to enumerate ninetyseven (97) sample households from six (6) sample barangays in the province.
The Labor Force Survey (LFS) is a nationwide survey of households to gather data on the demographic and socio-economic characteristics of the population. This monthly household survey measures the country's current labor market and is used, among other things, to calculate national and provincial employment and unemployment rates.
The Jobs and Skills Survey (JSS) is a rider survey to collect data on various topics including tasks and skills, employment working conditions, remote work, and adaptability to new technologies. The survey results serve as a basis for planning, developing policies, and implementing programs to create gainful employment and bolster livelihood opportunities for Filipinos.
The employment rate in January 2025 decreased slightly to 95.73%, down from 96.86% in December 2024. The unemployment rate increased in January 2025 to 4.30%, up from 3.14% in December 2024. Similarly, the underemployment rate saw an increase, rising to 13.34% in January 2025 from 10.92% in December 2024. This represents a significant increase of 2.42 percentage points. The labor force participation rate (LFPR) in January 2025 was placed at 63.90 percent, meaning that approximately 50.65 million Filipinos aged 15 years old and over who were in the labor force, or those who were either employed or unemployed.

The success and reliability of the Labor Force Survey (LFS) heavily depend on the quality of the data collected from respondents. In recognition of this, the PSA places great importance on ensuring that all data gathered is handled with the utmost confidentiality and care. Section 26 of Republic Act 10625 stipulates that individual data furnished by the respondent to statistical inquiries, surveys, and censuses of the PSA shall be considered privileged information and such shall be inadmissible as evidence in any proceeding.
