The population of Caramoan as of 2020 is 51,728

Caramoan's population as of May 1, 2020 was 51,728, based on the 2020 Census of Population and Housing (2020CPH).  Caramoan is the nineteenth most populous municipality of Camarines Sur. The 2020 population is higher by 4,123 compared with the population of 47,605 in 2015, and higher by 6,783 compared with the population of 44,945 in 2010.

From 2015 to 2020, the population of Caramoan increased by 1.76 percent annually, on average.  By comparison, the rate at which the municipality's population grew during the period 2010 to 2015 was lower at 1.10 percent.

Household population comprises 99.76 percent of the total population

The household population of Caramoan reached 51,605 persons in 2020.  This is higher by 4,071 persons than the household population reported in 2015, and 2,785 persons more than the 6,713 household population posted in 2010.

In 2020, the household population comprised 99.76 percent of the total population in Caramoan, while the remaining 0.24 percent comprised the institutional population or those residing in collective or institutional living quarters such as hotels, hospitals, orphanages and home for the aged, corrective and penal institutions, and military camps.


Sex Ratio is at 104 males per 100 females

Males accounted for 51.0 percent of the total household population in 2020 while females comprised 49.0 percent.  These figures resulted in a sex ratio of 104 males for every 100 females.

Median age is 20.8 years

In 2020, the median age of the population of the municipality was 20.8 years, which means that half of the population was younger than 20.8 years.

Moreover, three in every ten persons (37.3 percent) were under 15 years old.  Ten to fourteen comprised the largest age group, followed by those in the five to nine and zero to four age groups. Males (52.0 percent) outnumbered females (48.0 percent) in the zero to 49 age group.  On the other hand, there were more females (52.2 percent) than males (47.8 percent) in the older age groups (50 years old and over).

Dependency ratio

The young dependents (0 to 14 years) comprised 37.3 percent of the household population in 2020.  Meanwhile, the old dependents (65 years and over) posted a share of 6.1 percent.

The overall dependency ratio was 77, which indicates that for every 100 working-age population (15 to 64 years), there were about 77 dependents (66 young dependents and 11 old dependents).

Senior citizens comprise 9.1 percent of the household population

Senior citizens are those aged 60 years old and over.  In 2020, senior citizens made up 9.1 percent of the 51,605 household population of Caramoan.  Among the senior citizens, females (55.1 percent) outnumbered the males (44.9 percent).

Twenty four elderly for every one hundred children below 15 years

The ageing index or the proportion of persons aged 60 years and over per 100 persons under the age of 15 years was computed at 24.4 percent in 2020.  This means that there were twenty four elderly aged 60 years and over for every one hundred children under 15 years old.
