In a monumental achievement, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Albay proudly announces the registration of over 1 million individuals for the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys). As of November 9, 2023, PhilSys Albay has registered a total of 70,352 (19.62%) out of the 358,630 cumulative target this year. Overall, 1,000,364 individuals have registered for PhilSys Step 2 or 81.08% of the total target registrants based on the 2020 CPH population.
On 11 November 2023, PSA Albay through the PhilSys Registry Office (PRO) of PSA Central Office organized a highly successful ePhilID and PhilSys Check Activation at Brgy 56 Taysan, Legazpi City, marking a significant milestone in the region's commitment to achieving widespread and efficient National ID registration. The event, conducted in collaboration with Marnie Manicad Productions International (MMPI) as the media partner, garnered immense support from BPI, acting as a relying party for PhilSys. Notable guests, including Kristine Torres and Christian Comandante of Use Case Development and Management Service (UCDMS) from PRO Central Office, graced the occasion alongside 163 enthusiastic participants from Brgy 56 Taysan, Legazpi City.
Beyond the immediate locality, residents from neighboring barangays in Legazpi City also actively engaged in the event. The ePhilID and PhilSys Check activation served as an informative platform to educate the community about the intrinsic importance and myriad applications of both the ePhilID and PhilID. The ePhilID stands as a digital representation of an individual's identity, offering a secure and convenient means of accessing various government and private services. From financial transactions to healthcare services, the ePhilID streamlines interactions, ensuring a seamless and efficient experience for the registrants. Moreover, the National ID itself serves as a unified identification system, enhancing national security, streamlining public service delivery, and promoting inclusive access to government initiatives.
The ePhilID and PhilSys Check activation emphasized the legitimacy of PhilSys, assuring participants of the credibility and security of the system. To make the event even more memorable, attendees were treated to a range of giveaways, and provided with complimentary snacks.
PhilSys personnel and registration team actively engaged with clients, addressing queries and facilitating registrations for those who were not yet part of the National ID system. At the end of the day, the team successfully registered 80 clients, with 7 ePhilID issuances. This milestone reflects not just a numerical achievement but underscores the commitment of PSA Albay to creating a secure and efficient National ID system. The PhilSys activation’s success is a testament to the collaborative efforts of PSA Albay, its partners, and the enthusiastic participation of the community. As PSA Albay continues its mission, events like these play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between the community and the transformative potential of the PhilSys initiative.
