29 February 2024 – BACACAY, ALBAY. One of the mandates of the Philippines Statistics Authority (PSA) is to carry out, enforce, and administer civil registration functions in the country as provided for in Act No. 3753, the Law on Registry of Civil Status. One of the national initiatives spearheaded by the National Statistician and Civil Registrar General to fulfill the country’s commitment to the 2015–2024 Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) Decade is the implementation of the Birth Registration Assistance Project (BRAP).
Concurrently, in celebration of the 34th Civil Registration Month, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Region-V, in coordination with the Provincial Statistical Office (PSO) of Albay and in partnership with the Local Civil Registry Office (LCRO) of Bacacay, Albay, headed by MCR Mary Ann Villar, conducted the awarding of Birth Certificates in Security Paper (SecPa) under the Birth Registration Assistance Project (BRAP) to thirty-three beneficiaries from Barangay San Pablo, Bacacay, Albay.
One of the beneficiaries, Lola Cresencia, who is 103 years old and is considered the oldest registrant in the Bicol Region, expressed her heartfelt gratitude for the unwavering support of her need to secure her birth certificate. The thirty-three BRAP beneficiaries also expressed their gratitude to PSA for this impactful project.
These outstanding efforts of the PSA and LCROs are in line with the commitment of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) to ensure that all Filipinos have their birth registered with the local authorities and will be provided with legal documentation through the issuance of the birth certificate.
